Alternative Dispute Resolution and Criminal Justice policies will significantly promote rule of law
On Tuesday 10th January 2023, Justice Sector member institutions in partnership with Development Partners launched two policies: one for Alternative Dispute Resolution, and the other for Criminal Justice.
While launching both policies, Minister of Justice and Attorney General Dr Emmanuel Ugirashebuja thanked the partnership, the commitment and ownership shown by Development Partners, Civil Societies, Private Sector and Public Institutions during the long process that informed, developed and finalized the Criminal Justice Policy and ADR Policy formulation and adoption, and expressed the confidence that all of these stakeholders will be part of their implementation.
“The launch of Alternative Dispute Resolution and Criminal Justice Policies is a big milestone and exciting development in the Justice, Reconciliation, Law and Order Sector, as well as for the Justice Service delivery and promotion of the Rule of Law, with full participation of the Citizens.” Minister said.
He Highlighted that the two policies comprise a series of principles and policy actions that will guide future actions of the Justice, Reconciliation, Law and Order key players in delivering justice service, promoting and protecting Human Rights as well as strengthening peace and security.
Minister Ugirashebuja concluded his remarks by asking particularly journalists and members of the media to be part of the policies’ implementation process and help citizens understand their specific roles, support and benefits.
