Citizens were sensitised about their rights and to avoid contravening the law

From November to December 2020, the Ministry of Justice with the support of the European Union through the project “Accountable Democratic Governance Programme: Support the Ministry of Justice to Improve Access to Quality Justice” conducted the second phase of community dialogue sessions with opinions leaders in all districts to forestall conflict and dispense justice in the country.

During the sessions, citizens were sensitised about their rights and to avoid contravening the law. Other activities included talk shows on community radios and discussions with citizens on some of the most used laws. A team from the Ministry of Justice together with members of Justice Sector district committees visited RIB stations, Isange One Stop Center and prisons and inspected the observance of rules and regulations governing the rights of offenders.

This action is expected to be held quarterly.
