Minister of Justice/Attorney General Presided over the graduation of 178 Police officers
On Wednesday 26 July 2018, Minister of Justice and attorney General Johnston Busingye presided over the graduation event of 178 Police Officers in various academic and professional disciplines at the National Police College (NPC) in Musanze District. The programmes include Police Senior Command and Staff Course and Academic Programs, which include Masters in Peace Studies and Conflict Transformation as well as Bachelors of Professional Police Studies, Computer Science (option-Information Security) and in Forensic Science.
In his address, Minister Busingye emphasised that physical and intellectual preparation are fundamental to the proper discharge of the mandate to keep our country safe and secure. He added that to meet current global crime trends necessitates such tailor made trainings. “There is no doubt that the effective response to the challenges of the contemporary policing environment associated with globalization, use of sophisticated technology in the commission of crime, transnational organized crime and others, requires regional and international cooperation, sharing of experience, harmonization of training as well as focus on programs tailored to identified law enforcement challenges” Minister Busingye highlighted.
He concluded by thanking Rwanda National Police, the University of Rwanda and other stakeholders for organizing such programmes. “I thank, once again, the National Police for organizing other junior courses and designing undergraduate programs that enable members of law enforcement agencies to professionally deliver on their mandate”. He added.
Some of the programmes are offered in partnership with the University of Rwanda.
