Rwanda’s justice sector continues to cope with the pandemic
Since the pandemic broke out in the early March 2020, the judicial sector has expanded its online services to several areas within the sector.
For the first time, the Justice month was held virtually.
Speaking at the Justice Month launch which started on 24th June and will end on 23rd July 2021, the Minister of Justice and Attorney General Busingye Johnston advised officials in the sector to remain vigilant and innovative as the pandemic surges.
“It’s worthy thanking people who did not stop providing justice service during lockdown instead, there were innovations that kept the services moving and this should continue” Minister Busingye said.
The Minister stressed that “it is of paramount importance to remain dedicated and serve with continuity in online service to achieve the desired tasks,”
He hailed the technological systems and platforms used in filling cases of IECSM which acted as an enabler for litigants to file cases and the new e-auction system.
“Dukomeze umuhigo w'itangwa ry'ubutabera kuri bose duhangana na Covid-19” is the theme of Justice Month 2020/2021.
