The position of the Government of Rwanda on the 5 genocide suspects living freely in the UK
On Monday 26th April 2021, Minister of Justice and Attorney General Busingye Johnston discussed with the established group of UK Members of Parliament and House of Lords (APPG on war crimes), on the position of the Government of Rwanda on the 5 genocide suspects living freely in the UK.
The discussions included the APPG co-chairs, Rt. Hon. Andrew Mitchell MP and Lord Mendelsohn, Minister Busingye Johnston, Minister of State in charge of Constitutional and Legal Affairs Ambas. Nyirahabimana Solina and High Commissioner for the Republic of Rwanda to the United Kingdom Yamina Karitanyi.
Minister Busingye said that Rwanda does not seek revenge and will not.
“Rwanda does not prejudge the 5 suspects, whether they are innocent or guilty will be decided by courts. All we seek is that due process is followed and that justice, so far delayed, does not end up denied.” He added.
